The animation shows a shell element model cut with a cutting plane.

The cutting surface feature in ADINA will be significantly improved in the 8.2 version of the AUI:

  1. The cutting surface can cut all element types, not just 3-D elements. The cutting surface can also cut contact surfaces.
  2. Bands, vectors and other results can be plotted over the entire plotted mesh, not just on the intersection of the cutting surface with the plotted mesh.

This is demonstrated in the animation, where the results are plotted over the entire shell element model.

  3. Results such as fluxes can now also be integrated over the intersection of the cutting surface with 2-D planar and axisymmetric elements (along cutting lines).
  4. The cutting surface calculations are significantly faster.
