Bentley Software: Tasked with revitalizing high-risk urban neighborhoods, ADAX Consultants adopted Bentleyās digital twin and BIM tools to improve quality of life for over 60,000 residents in Manaus. The project aims to relocate more than 2,400 families from high-risk areas, providing safe housing, infrastructure, and public spaces across 340,000 square meters.Ā
Project
The Social and Environmental Program for Manaus and the Interior brings new ideas to promote sustainability and inclusion in Manaus and the surrounding areas of Brazil. ADAX Information and Technology Consultants seek to transform more vulnerable urban areas along the IgarapƩ do Quarenta stream. It benefits more than 60,000 people in neighborhoods that include Japiim, Coroado, and Armando Mendes, all in an area of 340,000 square meters. The program aims to relocate more than 2,400 families in high-risk areas, providing new safe housing, basic infrastructure, and additional public spaces. The total project value is USD 114 million, of which USD 34 million will be provided by the state as counterpart funding. This project is important to improve the quality of life in Manaus, helping to reduce flooding, diseases, and inequality.
Ā Facts
- Using Bentleyās products, they were able to reduce the project time by 59% and project costs by 90%
"Our main focus was collaboration among teams, and this was achieved thanks to the interoperability of Bentley's software and its versatility in communicating with various data formats".
Marcellus CampĆŖlo, Executive Coordinator, ADAX
Solution
Using ProjectWise, ADAX enabled team integration and collaboration on 12,778 files distributed in 1,466 folders, a total of more than 105 gigabytes of project information. By using OpenFlows and OpenRoads, the team created BIM models of the sanitation networks for residential areas faster and more effectively than using traditional methods. With SYNCHRO, they planned material logistics for the construction site and improved environmental impact indicators. The project modeled housing and related facilities using OpenBuildings Designer, based on the typology created and a federated approach. This helped them produce several layout options and enhance flexibility in the feasibility study phase, enabling changes and improvements to the original urban project plan.
Outcome
With MicroStation as the base platform, the team manipulated data easier than before, which reduced the learning curve during the project and significantly reduced rework due to design errors. Better collaboration across multiple teams was achieved thanks to the interoperability of Bentley’s software and their versatility in communicating with various data formats. As a result, ADAX federated workflows by project phase and discipline, which ensured data integrity and reduced project time by 59% and project costs by 90%. The technology helped shrink the size of the required project team by 60% and overall travel time to and from sites by 11,000 hours.
