Bridge engineering teams are under growing pressure to deliver more complex infrastructure faster while maintaining accuracy and coordination across disciplines. Yet many bridge design workflows still rely on disconnected tools and manual handoffs between modeling, analysis, detailing, and documentation.

OpenBridge Designer 2026 continues Bentley’s connected bridge engineering approach with enhancements focused on reducing workflow fragmentation and improving delivery efficiency.

What’s New in OpenBridge Designer 2026 for Bridge Design Teams
Key enhancements in the release include:
  • Native Rebar Modeler Engine for concrete bridge detailing
  • Cesium World Terrain import for faster project setup and early contextual modeling
  • More flexible parametric workflows
  • Enhanced automated deliverables and reporting

One of the most significant updates is the new native Rebar Modeler Engine, which allows engineers to model, detail, clash detect and generate reinforcement schedules directly within OpenBridge Modeler.

Because reinforcement remains parametrically connected to the bridge model, design updates can flow through associated rebar and deliverables, helping reduce manual rework and improve documentation accuracy.

The Cesium World Terrain import also helps teams accelerate early project setup by generating preliminary terrain context more quickly. This supports conceptual bridge planning, early visualization, and stakeholder coordination before fully developed terrain models are available.

Together, these updates strengthen OpenBridge Designer’s role as a purpose-built bridge engineering environment, helping teams connect modeling, detailing, analysis, and deliverables in a more efficient workflow.
